What's New & Interesting...
Monthly Weekend Yoga Movement Seminars beginning
January 16
Yoga Movement is an
innovative blend of dance and yoga, a dynamic
and invigorating practice, and a chance to enjoy
group movement. These seminars are for
experienced yoga practitioners, and/or teachers
and offer Yoga Movement asana classes, creative
work, and teaching practice. You are eligible if
you are a graduate of The Yoga Room ASP, have a
yoga teaching certificate, or with permission of
the teacher.
There are ten seminars, five hours on Saturday
and three hours on Sunday, once a month, for ten
months. The course begins in January and
finishes in November 2010.
Each weekend seminar can also be taken
individually.

Dear Friends,
The Yoga Room’s new home was
ready as planned and opened August 8, 2009. Our new
studio is at 2530 San Pablo Avenue, near Dwight
Way in West Berkeley. Detailed directions are
below.
DIRECTIONS: 2530 San Pablo Ave, Suite D. We are in the
northwest corner of the building we share with the Sierra Club, Ecology Center,
Audubon Society, and Centro-Latino. Enter the lobby and proceed down the hallway
to the door marked Suite D, The Yoga Room. Pass through this doorway and follow
the corridor to the right until you reach our beautiful, quiet new studio. There
is an anteroom where you can leave your shoes and clothing, but please bring
your valuables into the practice space.
Please do not park in the building parking lot. Parking
is available on San Pablo, Blake Street, or Tenth.

Gay White's Yoga Retreats,
Workshops and Classes.
Gay teaches in yoga centers in the Berkeley area
and leads retreats throughout the year. All of Gay's classes will be
held at the Yoga Room after its August 8, 2009 on San Pablo just south
of Dwight Way in Berkeley. She is an original and creative teacher and
choreographer available to come to your studio and teach workshops and
intensives. Private instruction is available by appointment -
contact Gay to arrange this unique learning opportunity.
 Gay
White has been teaching yoga and an innovative blend of dance and yoga called
Yoga Movement since 1989. She has studied at the Yoga Room in Berkeley for many
years and is on the faculty of the Yoga Room Advanced Studies Program. Gay
founded the Yoga Garden Dance Company in 1992 and continues to give classes,
workshops, retreats and performances. Her choreography has been featured at the
Yoga Journal's International Yoga Convention both in 1998 and in 1999 and she
was inspired by her studies with Geeta Iyengar in Pune, India in 1997. Gay has
been creating dances since 1975. She studied choreography at Naropa Institute in
the late 70s and 80s with Margaret Jenkins and Brenda Way. Gay has produced
performances of her own works and the works of other artists in the Bay Area
since 1983. In 1992, she founded the Yoga Garden Dancers, a group of dancers and
yogis who perform her choreography.
Gay's retreats, workshops and classes offer a gentle yet deeply challenging approach to
practice as well as providing a quiet context for contemplation.
Gay
White offers a variety of retreats and workshops year round. Retreats sometimes
include another teacher depending on the focus of the retreat. Check back
regularly for information on upcoming retreats and remember to sign up early as
space is limited.

are the Bay Area's only performing ensemble that
combines the sacred arts of Hatha-Yoga with contemporary dance
