Join
Gay & Ellie for a
Yoga, Meditation & Creativity Retreat in Taos, New Mexico
Join
Gay along with Ellie Wood for Gay's Fourth Annual retreat
at the magical Mabel Dodge Luhan House. We have received
such wonderful feedback on past retreats, we returning for the first time
in late Spring. Join us to
enjoy the beauty of the reawakening of the high plateau from April
27 to May 1, 2005....spring is a wonderful time to enjoy the beauty of the high plateau surrounded by the striking Sangre de
Cristo Mountains...join us for a magical long spring weekend at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House in Taos, New Mexico.
Through Yoga, Meditation and Intuitive Drawing, during this retreat we
will be offering opportunities and tools to explore the inner workings,
and possibly unexplored depths, of our lives. We will not be attempting
to “make art” and there will be no critiques given. We’ll be working on
our own in the spaces of the day, hopefully not judging, liking or
disliking the images that appear. And maybe by the end of the weekend we
will begin to see the drawings as an echo of a much greater process that
is taking place inside us.
The retreat is
for
for yoga practitioners with some
experience, who are interested in practicing, meditating and exploring
their creativity together in a beautiful setting. The first
class will begin late Wednesday afternoon, and the retreat
will end after the morning class on Sunday. There will be long classes daily
Thursday to Saturday.
VENUE
The Mabel Dodge Luhan House has been a gathering place for artists and
thinkers to relax and recover their energy since the 1920s when New York
art patroness Mabel Dodge and Taos Pueblo Indian Antonio Luhan built the
rambling hacienda “Los Gallos” at the base of Sacred Mountain.
Romance, warm adobe charm, early century
elegance, historic relevance. Herringbone vigas, traditional arched
doorways, kiva fireplaces, and carved pillars. A welcoming hearth and
relaxed ambiance. Panoramic view. Quiet patios and a tree-lined acequia.
The Mabel Dodge Luhan House offers you supportive solitude for creative
reflection. Today, the house is still secluded at the end of a quiet road not
far from the center of town, within walking distance to shops, restaurants
and spas, national forests are nearby. Experience yoga, meditation and
creativity in a truly
extraordinary setting, the Mabel Dodge Luhan House is a destination in and
of itself yet Taos is just a few minute walk.
Late April
is a beautiful time in Taos. The crowds are gone and you can enjoy Taos like the locals.
Days can be brisk with temperatures in the 50s and 60s with crisp nights and
glittering skies. Weather is generally dry with the occasional
snowfall or spring shower can add a touch of magic to the landscape.
Bring sunscreen for the days and a warm jacket for the beautiful clear, starry nights,
layering your clothing is the key to comfort.

TRANSPORTATION
Taos is three hours north of Albuquerque. You can take a connecting
flight into Taos airport or arrange shuttle service or car rental for the
drive. Public transportation is somewhat limited in Taos so a rental car
can make a big difference if you plan to explore Taos and its
surroundings.
If you arrive early enough in Albuquerque, the drive to Taos can turn
in an enjoyable day of visits to the towns along the side roads to
Taos. From hand-woven rugs to local art and handicrafts, Pueblos
hundreds of years old and striking vistas, the drive can become an
adventure! Get a guidebook and read about the rich history and sightseeing
opportunities as you travel north; first on the Turquoise Trail and then
the high road into Taos.
Please make your own air and ground transportation arrangements.
More information will be provided upon registration.

The fee of $790 includes a shared room, meals and classes. There

is refundable for

About Gay White
Gay White has taught yoga since 1989.
She teaches Iyengar-style yoga for all levels and is on the faculty of
the Yoga Room’s Advanced Studies Program. She teaches courses in breathing
awareness, developing a sense
of touch, and backbends, as well as an innovative flowing style of
practice called Yoga Movement. Her classes offer a gentle yet challenging approach to
practice. Gay’s retreats offer a quiet space for going deeply into
the healing and energizing aspects of yoga. She was the founder
and artistic director of the Yoga Garden Dancers and has performed and
produced many evenings of dance and theater. In recent years she has
turned inward to concentrate on her lifelong love of watercolor painting
as well as the study and practice of energy healing. At this retreat she
will lead yoga sessions with a concentration on enhancing creativity.
About
Ellie Wood
Ellie Wood is an energy healer who has been meditating
and drawing for thirty years. She will offer guidance and
provide supplies for working with intuitive drawing in the
spirit of meditation, where the aim is simply to be present
and witness what shows up. The focus will be on process
rather than product, with no attempt to make art and no critiques.
We’ll be working on our own in the spaces of the day, not judging
the images that appear. By the end of the weekend, we hope to see
the drawings as an echo of a much greater process.
